Chamblee, GA

Dark-stained house with a covered porch and stone base in Chamblee

DeKalb County, GA

Chamblee’s general contractor

Chamblee has changed considerably, with older housing alongside substantial new construction.

The houses in Chamblee

Small post-war houses being reworked and expanded, plus newer homes needing finish-level work. Kitchens and baths in the older stock usually come with electrical updates.

Inside the perimeter the houses are older and smaller, and the work is usually about making an existing footprint function better rather than adding to it.

We are based in Roswell, which puts Chamblee comfortably inside our working radius. Chamblee sits in DeKalb County, and the rest of that county is on the county page.

How we work

SSRGA started in 2021, but Igor Dubovoy had already put twenty years into the trade by then. His last job before the company was at an outfit doing roughly five hundred remodels a month, and he watched the quality drop as the numbers rose. He built SSRGA to work the opposite way, with fewer jobs and more care on each one.

We are not the biggest shop in the north metro and have no interest in being. Fewer jobs at a time is the whole point.

How a job actually runs

First visit

Igor walks the space, asks what you actually use the room for, and gives you a straight answer about scope. Some jobs are smaller than people fear. Some are bigger. You get the real version either way.

Opening it up

The moment demo starts, the house tells you what it has been hiding. We document what we find, explain what it means for the job, and fix it properly rather than working around it.

Finishing it right

The last ten percent is where most remodels fall apart. Trim that does not quite meet, caulk lines that wander, a door that never closes square. That part gets the same attention as the framing.

How scope drives cost

Two versions of the same project can differ enormously depending on choices that have nothing to do with what you can see at the end.

Changing where things are, how the house is framed or how big it is drives most of the price. Material selections matter, but on a typical job they are the smaller part of the total.

We will lay out where those decision points are for your project, including where spending more genuinely buys you something and where it does not.

Seeing more of it

Every photograph on this site is a job we did. There are a lot more of them on the gallery page, sorted by the kind of work, including the construction stages most portfolios leave out.

How we think about materials

There is a version of every product at three price points and the differences are not always where the marketing says. Some of it is genuine performance and some of it is finish options.

The distinction we care about is whether something is buried. Anything behind drywall, under tile or below the waterline gets specified properly, because the cost of replacing it is the cost of tearing the room apart again. Anything you can unscrew later is a preference question.

That means we sometimes talk clients out of upgrades. If a mid-range fixture performs the same as the expensive one, we would rather that money went into the part of the job nobody sees.

Permits and inspections

Structural changes, additions, most electrical and plumbing moves, decks and roofs all get permitted where the jurisdiction requires it. We pull them and we meet the inspectors.

Requirements vary across the six counties we work in, sometimes noticeably. What needs a permit in one jurisdiction may not in the next, and setback and zoning rules differ enough to change what is buildable on a given lot.

Unpermitted work causes problems at resale and at insurance claim time. It is not worth the saving, and a project that a contractor wants to keep off the books is telling you something.

Working with a small shop

In practice, a small shop puts you in direct contact with the owner. Igor works on your project, so decisions get made on the spot instead of waiting for someone back at a desk to call you.

The trade-off is availability. Because we cap our workload, there may be a wait before we can start. We would rather give you a real date and keep it than say yes today and leave your house half-open while we juggle other jobs.

The crew that starts your project finishes it. That continuity matters more than most people expect on work that runs for weeks.

Looking after the work

A finished remodel is not maintenance free, but the list is short and most of it is easy.

Most of the upkeep is about water. Recaulk wet-area joints when they start to crack, and keep exterior drainage open so water leaves the house. Filters and vents on mechanical equipment need an occasional cleaning too.

You get that list from us at handover, specific to your project. If you notice a problem down the road, tell us about it. Living with it is the last thing we want for you.

Where this is

Questions people ask

Who is actually on site?

You will see the same faces from the first day to the last. Igor is there on the job himself, so the person who planned the work is the one checking it.

How long does a project like this take?

Ask us after the walkthrough and you will get a straight number of weeks. Before that, anyone quoting you a timeline is guessing. As a rough guide, a single bathroom is a few weeks of work and a full home remodel takes months, and we keep you posted if the dates move.

How do we get started?

A walkthrough at your house is the first step, and it is free. Book it by calling (678) 665-7771 or through the contact page. You owe us nothing after it.

Will we be able to live in the house during the work?

It depends on how much of the house is torn open at once. One room at a time, yes in most cases. For full remodels and larger additions, we talk it through honestly at the walkthrough.

What happens if you find something unexpected?

We stop and show you, the same day, with photos and our plan for fixing it. Nothing goes back behind drywall until you know what is there.

Do you handle permits?

We do. Anything that changes structure, adds space or moves most plumbing and electrical needs a permit, and we take care of the application and the inspections so you do not have to.

Let us come look at your Chamblee project

The first step is a conversation at your house. Book it at (678) 665-7771 or through the contact page. Igor will look at what you have and talk through what you want, then give you an honest sense of the scope. We keep the workload small enough that he can be on site for all of it.
