Lighting Installation

Renovated living space with a stone fireplace and an open staircase

Interior Finish Remodeling

Lighting Installation done properly

Most rooms are lit by one fixture in the middle of the ceiling, which is the worst possible place for it.

What this work involves

Layered lighting means ambient, task and accent on separate switching. A kitchen with under-cabinet task light and dimmable ceiling light is a different room from one with a single overhead.

Finished interior with fresh paint, trim and new flooring

Adding fixtures means circuit capacity, and older panels here are frequently at their limit. We check what the panel can carry before promising anything, and sometimes the honest answer involves a panel upgrade first.

Placement gets planned against the furniture layout rather than the ceiling grid. Cans centered on an empty ceiling look symmetrical and light nothing you care about.

The sequence on a job like this

  • Panel capacity and existing circuits assessed before planning
  • Layout planned against the furniture layout, not the ceiling center
  • New circuits and switching run, dimmers where they help
  • Fixtures installed, trimmed and the drywall made good

What we look at before quoting lighting installation

Every lighting installation job starts the same way: we look at what the new work has to sit on. Placement gets planned against the furniture layout rather than the ceiling grid. Cans centered on an empty ceiling look symmetrical and light nothing you care about.

It is slower at the front end and saves you grief later. What we learn during that first visit is what lets us give you a quote that holds once demolition starts.

Worth knowing

The thing that usually goes wrong

Adding load to a panel already at capacity. It works until the day everything is on at once.

Most of what separates good work from adequate work is buried by the time the job is done. The substrate under the floor, the studs behind the drywall, the decking under the roof. Those are the parts that decide how the finish holds up, and they are the parts a fast crew skips.

A free walkthrough is the easiest way to find out where yours stands. Book one at (678) 665-7771 or through our contact page. Igor does them himself and does not dress up the answer.

Where we do this work

From our base in Roswell we work across Fulton, Cobb, Cherokee, Forsyth, Gwinnett and DeKalb counties. Alpharetta, GA, Marietta, GA and Woodstock, GA are on the list, and the service areas page has the other thirty-nine cities.

Have a look at the gallery for finished work, or call (678) 665-7771 and we will come out.

What moves the number on a job like this

We quote after we have walked the job, never before. Posting a figure here would just give you a guess. What we can do is lay out the handful of things that really decide what a project costs.

Start with the plumbing and electrical. If they stay put, the job is mostly surface work and finish. If a drain or a circuit has to move, we are opening the house up and scheduling trade work around it, which adds time and money.

After the layout question, look at the age and upkeep of the house. Water damage or patched framing behind the finishes will add more time than upgrading a faucet or a tile line.

How long this takes

The honest answer is that it depends on scope and on what the house has been hiding, but that is not an excuse for a vague schedule. After the walkthrough you get dates.

We sequence around lead times rather than starting demolition and hoping. If the cabinets are eight weeks out, we do not tear out your kitchen in week one.

When something does change, you hear it from us the day we know. The worst version of a remodel is the one where the homeowner works out the schedule has slipped by noticing nobody showed up.

What it is like to have us here

Predictable hours, the same faces, and a site that gets cleaned before we leave. Floor protection and dust barriers go in before work starts.

You will know who is coming and roughly when. If a subcontractor is on site for a day, you will know that in advance too.

Questions get answered directly. There is no chain of communication to work through, because the person doing the work is the person you have been talking to since the walkthrough.

After we finish

The end of the job includes a walkthrough where we go over what was done and what it needs from you, which is usually not much.

The parts worth attention are the wet joints, the exterior drainage and anything that moves. Everything else is built to be left alone.

If something needs looking at later, call. Knowing what is behind the finish is worth something, and we do.

Questions people ask

Can our panel handle more lights?

That is the first thing we check. Older panels here are frequently at their limit, and sometimes the honest answer involves a panel upgrade before anything else.

Where should the lights go?

Planned against your furniture layout, not the ceiling grid. Cans centered on an empty ceiling look symmetrical and light nothing you actually use.

Why does trim work cost what it does?

Because it is the part where a fast job and a careful one look completely different. Coped inside corners, tight returns and joints that stay closed take time.

How do we get started?

Most people start with a phone call to (678) 665-7771. Some prefer the contact page. Both get you a walkthrough at no cost, and a sales pitch is not part of it.

What happens if you find something unexpected?

You find out that day. Old houses hide things, and when we open a wall and find one, we send pictures and tell you what we recommend before any work continues on it.

Who is actually on site?

Our own crew and Igor in person. A big remodeling outfit sends whoever is free that week. We keep the job with the people who already know your house.

Let us take a look at your lighting installation project

Start with a walkthrough. Call (678) 665-7771 or reach us through the contact page, and Igor will come out, look at the space as it is, and tell you plainly what the scope looks like. A job like this takes over part of your house for weeks, so it helps that the people you meet on day one are the same people finishing the job.
